In the early morning hours of December 19, 2025, a violent incident unfolded in the residential neighborhood of Fort Washington, Maryland. Prince George's County Police officers were dispatched to the 6700 block of Botetourt Drive around 12:15 a.m. following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered a victim suffering from a critical gunshot wound outside of a residence.
The injured individual was identified as 37-year-old male Craig Demarco Jackson, a resident of nearby Temple Hills.
First responders provided immediate aid and transported Jackson to a local hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical intervention, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead a short time later. Homicide Unit detectives assumed control of the investigation, quickly determining that the shooting was not a random act of violence but rather an isolated incident between individuals who were acquainted with one another.
The inquiry led authorities to identify a suspect, 41-year-old Jonathan Tyrone Howard of Fort Washington. Investigators alleged that the fatal encounter stemmed from an argument between the two men that escalated into violence. Following the collection of evidence and witness statements, Howard was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and other related offenses. He was subsequently processed and detained at the Department of Corrections on a no-bond status as he awaited trial proceedings.
