In the early morning hours of Saturday, December 20, 2025, a violent incident unfolded in the Sparrow Point Townhomes community of Virginia Beach, Virginia. At approximately 7:01 a.m., emergency dispatchers received a call regarding a shooting in the 1300 block of Pine Cone Circle. Officers from the Virginia Beach Police Department responded rapidly to the scene, where they discovered a 35-year-old male victim, Brinte Lamont Walston of Norfolk, suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite the arrival of first responders, he was pronounced deceased at the location.
Detectives from the department's homicide unit immediately launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting. Through their inquiries, they were able to identify a suspect in connection with the death. Police subsequently took 45-year-old Travis Cornelious Hunter, a resident of Virginia Beach, into custody. Following his arrest, Hunter was charged with second-degree murder and the use of a firearm in the commission of a felony as the case moved forward into the judicial process.
