In the early morning hours of December 22, 2025, a violent tragedy unfolded in Phoenix, Arizona, claiming the life of 30-year-old Selena Felix. The sequence of events began the previous night amidst a custody dispute when her ex-boyfriend, 23-year-old Alexis Torres, took her three-year-old son from a home in Avondale. Tensions escalated into the early morning when Phoenix police officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Torres around 2:25 a.m.
near 7th Avenue and Dobbins Road. Instead of yielding, Torres fled the scene, sparking a search that would eventually lead law enforcement to a grim discovery miles away.
Approximately an hour after the failed traffic stop, officers responded to a distress call near 7100 West Pioneer Street in southwest Phoenix. There, they found the female victim lying in the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
