On the morning of December 22, 2025, law enforcement officials in Mount Pleasant, Texas, were dispatched to a residence on Red Springs Avenue following a distress call received around 8:00 a.m. regarding an unconscious person. Upon their arrival, officers entered the home and discovered the body of 51-year-old Rodney Harris, a male postal worker who had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
Emergency medical personnel confirmed that the victim had succumbed to his injuries at the scene, leading detectives to immediately classify the death as a homicide and secure the area for a thorough investigation.
As the inquiry progressed, the Mount Pleasant Police Department quickly identified a primary suspect in the case. Investigators focused their efforts on the victim's 19-year-old son, Azion Jayden Harris, labeling him a person of interest shortly after the discovery of the body.
