On the afternoon of December 25, 2025, a violent incident disrupted the holiday in a North Phoenix neighborhood, resulting in the homicide of 40-year-old William Nybourg. Phoenix Police Department officers were patrolling the area near 13th Avenue and Sequoia Drive around 1:10 p.m. when they were flagged down by a distressed adult female. The woman urgently directed the officers to a nearby residence, informing them that a shooting had just occurred inside the home.
Upon entering the
property to check for victims, law enforcement discovered William Nybourg suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Emergency responders from the Phoenix Fire Department arrived shortly thereafter to render aid, but the injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced deceased at the scene. Detectives secured the area to search for evidence and canvassed the neighborhood for potential witnesses or surveillance footage that could shed light on the events leading up to the shooting.
As of the days following the incident, no arrests have been reported in connection with the case. Investigators determined that the suspect fled the location before police arrived, and their identity remains unknown.
