In the early morning hours of February 21, 2025, a tragic event unfolded at a QuikTrip gas station located at the intersection of 27th Avenue and Thomas in west Phoenix. The incident, believed to have started as a robbery attempt, ended in the death of Naul Hernandez. He was a 55-year-old father who was originally from Durango, Mexico.
Following the incident, authorities launched an investigation that led them to two suspects. Two 19-year-olds, identified as Isaac Lechuga and Arturo Vázquez Rodríguez, were taken into custody in connection with the death of Mr. Hernandez. Both young men now face charges related to the fatal encounter at the gas station.
In the course of the investigation, conflicting stories emerged from the two accused individuals. Arturo Vázquez Rodríguez reportedly told authorities that Isaac Lechuga was the one who fired the fatal shot. However, Lechuga has denied this accusation, claiming that it is not true. Adding another layer to the investigation, evidence gathered so far indicates that the weapon used in the homicide belongs to Vázquez Rodríguez.
