On the afternoon of November 23, 2025, 31-year-old male Jeremy Jonathan Ku from Phoenix, Arizona was shot during a domestic violence incident inside his family’s south Phoenix home and later died at a hospital from his injuries. Police were called around 4:45 p.m. to a residence near 39th Street and Beverly Road, close to Baseline Road, after a caller reported that a man inside the house was firing a gun and that multiple people had been shot.
When officers entered the home, they found two family members already dead: 68-year-old George Chin Ku and his wife, 64-year-old Scarlett Shiu-Mei Ku, each suffering from at least one gunshot wound. Two other men, one of them identified as Jeremy, were also located inside with gunshot injuries. Officers removed the wounded men from the residence and rushed them to a nearby hospital for treatment. Jeremy did not survive and was pronounced dead at the hospital, while the second male victim was reported to have non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Phoenix police and subsequent media reports, detectives determined that the shooting stemmed from a domestic violence incident between George and Scarlett. Investigators believe George produced a firearm during an argument and shot Scarlett at least once, then fired at his son Jeremy and the other man who was inside the home at the time. After shooting the three victims, George is believed to have turned the gun on himself, dying by suicide at the scene. The incident has been characterized by authorities as an apparent murder-suicide within the household.
Because the suspected shooter, George Chin Ku, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, there have been no arrests in connection with Jeremy’s death. Police have stated that no additional suspects are believed to be involved and that no one else is being sought in relation to the case, although the investigation remains formally open as detectives complete their review of the evidence and events leading up to the violence. Jeremy is listed by the National Gun Violence Memorial as having been lost to gun violence in Phoenix on November 23, 2025, alongside his mother, reflecting the official view that he was an innocent victim in this domestic murder-suicide.
