In the early morning hours of Saturday, November 15, 2025, a violent incident unfolded at a bus stop in the Spanish Lake area of St. Louis County, Missouri. Gregory Hickman, a 51-year-old male, was present at the stop located in the 12100 block of Bellefontaine Road. According to investigators, Hickman had walked to the location from a nearby business, arriving around 1:31 a.m.
He remained there for approximately half an hour before the situation turned fatal.
At 2:06 a.m., surveillance cameras captured a suspect, later identified as 30-year-old Lorenzo Love, shooting Hickman three times. St. Louis County police officers were alerted to the gunfire by a ShotSpotter activation and arrived at the scene within three minutes. Upon their arrival, they discovered Hickman suffering from gunshot wounds. Despite the rapid response, he was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:12 a.m. Investigators recovered evidence including four empty whiskey shooters and a bottle of water near the victim.
Police quickly mobilized to search the surrounding area. Less than 20 minutes after the shooting, officers located Love walking on Pattern Drive near Bellefontaine Road, a short distance from the crime scene. He was reportedly carrying a backpack and wearing distinctive black pants with red patches on the knees—clothing that matched the description of the shooter seen in video footage. Further investigation revealed that Love had purchased alcohol and water at a nearby store just over an hour prior to the murder, where he had used his identification and was recorded on security cameras.
Following his detention, Love was interviewed by detectives and admitted to being the individual in the surveillance videos, placing himself at the scene of the crime. On November 20, 2025, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Lorenzo Love with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. He was ordered held on a $500,000 cash-only bond while the investigation continued to determine a motive for the killing, which authorities had not immediately released.
