In the city of Birmingham, Alabama, a verbal dispute between family members escalated to a fatal conclusion on the evening of Wednesday, November 19, 2025. Willie Rasean Raby, a 32-year-old male, was involved in an argument that ended with him being shot. The incident took place in a North Birmingham neighborhood.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, and Raby was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Despite the efforts of medical staff, he succumbed to the gunshot wound and was pronounced dead. The initial investigation by the Birmingham Police Department pointed to a family member as the person responsible for the shooting.
Following the incident, the family member who was involved in the altercation left the scene. However, in a significant development, this individual turned themselves into the authorities on the following day, Thursday. After a thorough review of the evidence and the circumstances surrounding the shooting, the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office made a determination. The investigation concluded that the shooting was a case of justifiable homicide. As a result of this ruling, no criminal charges were pursued against the family member involved.
