On July 3, 2016, Jamall Kelly, a 29-year-old Syracuse resident, was fatally shot in the Westcott Street area of the city. The incident occurred around 3:26 a.m. when police responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Kelly suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
