In the autumn of 2025, the life of 18-year-old Daviahn Lathan was tragically cut short in Lansing, Michigan. On the afternoon of Tuesday, November 11, 2025, around 2:30 p.m., Lansing Police Department officers were dispatched to the 2000 block of Georgetown Boulevard following reports of a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered Lathan with a gunshot wound. Despite the immediate response and medical assistance from the Lansing Fire Department, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The investigation into the death of the male teenager quickly led to an arrest. Initially, it was reported that a 19-year-old male had been taken into custody in connection with the incident. Further details emerged, identifying the individual charged as 17-year-old Rehmier Westmoreland. He was charged as an adult with murder and weapons counts. Court documents revealed that Lathan had been shot multiple times at close range.
Following his arrest, Westmoreland was ordered to be held without bond by Judge Kristen Simmons. A probable cause conference was scheduled for November 26, with a preliminary exam set for December 4 in 54A District Court.
