In the fading light of a Thursday evening, on October 23, 2025, the lively atmosphere of youth football games at Dr. Glen Day Park in northeast Wichita was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Amidst the hundreds of families gathered, 32-year-old Travon Stewart, a Black male, was the target of a fatal shooting.
