Neighbors grew worried when they couldn’t reach Deonicia Marroquin Flores, and on October 25, 2025, deputies with the LaGrange County Sheriff’s Office were sent to her home along South State Road 5 in Topeka for a welfare check. The house was locked and quiet. A family member arrived and let deputies in, where they discovered the bodies of Deonicia and her husband, Rafael Flores, both 70.
