On the night of October 26, 2025, a 7-year-old boy was fatally wounded inside a residence along the 1500 block of Grandview Avenue near West Fifth Avenue in Columbus. Police said the child gained access to a handgun that had not been secured and the weapon discharged, striking him. First responders were called a little after 9 p.m., and the boy was pronounced dead at 9:18 p.m., a timeline authorities shared while urging safe storage of firearms around children.
