In the quiet, early hours of a Sunday morning in October, a tragic event unfolded that would end the life of 58-year-old Benard Mack of Edwards, Mississippi. On October 26, 2025, Mack, a Black male, was a passenger in a vehicle when he was struck by multiple gunshots. The shooting did not occur where he was ultimately found, adding a layer of mystery to the circumstances of his death.
The driver of the vehicle transported the gravely wounded Mack to the 2800 block of Ridgeland Drive in
Jackson. It was there that authorities discovered him and pronounced him dead at the scene. The Jackson Police Department, in conjunction with the Hinds County Sheriff's Office, immediately launched a homicide investigation to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
