Brien Franklin Jr., 37, a Black male, was found mortally wounded just after noon on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, along the 500 block of West Colfax Avenue near downtown South Bend. Police were first dispatched at approximately 12:10 p.m. to reports of shots fired; moments later, a second call reported a man down in the same area.
