On the morning of October 6, 2025, a tragic drive-by shooting in Detroit resulted in the death of 15-year-old Stefan Toliver and left another teenager, a 17-year-old male, in critical condition. The incident unfolded at approximately 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Littlefield and Chicago streets. The two teenagers were walking home after a visit to a local store when they were targeted.
According to reports, a blue Lincoln SUV approached the pair after they had a confrontation with
an individual. Occupants of the vehicle then fired between 28 and 30 rounds at the teens. Stefan Toliver was rushed to a local hospital where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries. The 17-year-old victim remained hospitalized in a critical but stable condition. The relationship between the two victims was not immediately disclosed by authorities.
Investigators at the scene recovered numerous casings, including some believed to be from an assault rifle and handguns, suggesting the possibility of multiple shooters. The Detroit Police Department was alerted to the gunfire through ShotSpotter technology. In the wake of the shooting, Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison expressed his profound disappointment over the violence that claimed the life of such a young person.
While the investigation is ongoing, authorities have taken two persons of interest into custody for questioning. However, no formal arrests or charges have been announced. The police continue to search for the blue Lincoln SUV connected to the fatal shooting and have urged any witnesses or individuals with video footage of the incident to come forward to assist in their investigation.
