On a Sunday evening in May, a violent altercation at Jayne Field on the border of Detroit and Hamtramck turned deadly, leaving a beloved community advocate dead and three other individuals wounded. The man who lost his life was identified as 24-year-old Abdul Ahad. The incident, which occurred on May 25, 2025, also resulted in another person being shot, a third individual being stabbed, and a fourth victim being struck by a vehicle.
