On a late Wednesday afternoon, the life of 16-year-old Elijah Reese was tragically cut short on the east side of Detroit. The high school sophomore, a Black male, was walking home from East English Village Preparatory Academy with a friend on May 22, 2024, when they were approached by three other young men dressed in black. The encounter, which took place near Bedford Street and the Edsel Ford Service Drive, quickly escalated into a fatal altercation.
