Death by Force

Martaevion Loston, a 17-year-old Black male, was shot during a National Night Out gathering at A.B. Palmer Park in Shreveport on the evening of October 7, 2025. The gunfire broke out around East 79th Street at Line Avenue as families and neighbors milled around the playground; officers were dispatched just after 7 p.m. and found him wounded. He was taken to Ochsner LSU Health, where he was pronounced dead at 7:52 p.m. The mayor later noted the park event had not been officially permitted.
