In the early hours of March 15, 2025, a burst of gunfire outside a downtown Shreveport nightclub shattered the night, leaving a trail of devastation. Among the victims was 28-year-old JaCorey Fuller, a male whose life was tragically cut short. The shooting erupted around 2:35 a.m. on Texas Street, in the vicinity of the Haze nightclub. When Shreveport Police officers arrived at the chaotic scene, they discovered one man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was rushed to Ochsner Health Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
Shortly after, the grim reality of the incident expanded as three more victims, including Fuller, arrived at the same hospital with gunshot wounds sustained in the same event. Another of the wounded, Noah Penn, was taken into emergency surgery but tragically did not survive. Two other individuals were also injured in the shooting but were expected to recover. The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office later officially identified both JaCorey Fuller and Noah Penn as the deceased victims of the violent encounter.
In the days that followed the deadly shooting, investigators with the Shreveport Police Department worked to piece together the events of that night. Through examination of evidence and witness interviews, they identified a suspect in the double homicide. Law enforcement issued warrants for the arrest of a man identified as Kentavious Taylor, also referred to as Contavius Taylor, on two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of attempted second-degree murder. Authorities publicly declared him to be armed and dangerous and sought the public's assistance in locating him. Crime Stoppers even offered a reward for information that would lead to his capture.
The search for the suspected gunman concluded on March 25, 2025, when Shreveport Police successfully apprehended Kentavious Taylor. Following his arrest, he was booked into the Caddo Correctional Center to face the charges related to the deaths of JaCorey Fuller and Noah Penn, and the injuries sustained by the two other victims of the nightclub shooting.
