Antonio Johnson was a 38-year-old African American man whose life ended in west Shreveport, Louisiana, on the morning of January 4, 2021. Police were called just before 8 a.m. to the 5300 block of Avon Avenue, a residential stretch just off Jewella Avenue south of Interstate 20, after word spread that gunfire had erupted at a home there. When officers arrived, they found him outside the residence, unresponsive and wounded by multiple gunshots to the upper body.
He was pronounced dead at the scene, and authorities later confirmed his identity through fingerprint comparison.
Investigators treated the home and yard like a fresh crime scene, locking down the area while violent-crime detectives gathered evidence and began interviewing people who were there. According to police, an adult woman at the residence was detained immediately as the initial confusion gave way to a clearer account of what happened. As the investigation unfolded through interviews and evidence collection, detectives concluded that Shuntriel Walker Johnson, then 27, had shot him multiple times during what police described as a deadly domestic dispute.
With that determination, detectives sought and obtained an arrest warrant accusing her of second-degree murder. After an interview with investigators, she was booked into the Shreveport City Jail, and her bond was set at $150,000. Public reporting later the same day echoed the police account: the shooting, the body found outside, the domestic context investigators described, and the swift move from detention at the scene to a formal charge.
