In the late hours of December 27, 2024, a burst of gunfire shattered the night in Shreveport, Louisiana, claiming the life of 21-year-old Tristavian Datcher. The fatal encounter unfolded just before 10:30 p.m. in the parking lot of the Cross Lake Apartments in the 5600 block of South Lakeshore Drive. Authorities believe the shooting was the tragic outcome of a narcotics deal that had gone terribly wrong.
Tristavian and his 21-year-old cousin, Jakeva Datcher, were together at the apartment complex when the violence erupted. Witnesses described a burnt orange car, possibly a Dodge Charger, from which two men emerged and opened fire before quickly fleeing the scene.
First responders found Tristavian critically wounded at the scene of the shooting. He was rushed by the Shreveport Fire Department to Ochsner LSU Health for emergency medical treatment. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Tristavian succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 11:00 p.m. His cousin, Jakeva, was discovered deceased from multiple gunshot wounds in the back seat of an SUV that was parked a short distance away in the 3000 block of Curtis Lane. The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office later confirmed that both cousins died as a result of their gunshot wounds. The incident marked the 53rd and 54th homicides in Caddo Parish for the year.
Shreveport Police homicide detectives launched an immediate and intensive investigation into the double homicide. Their efforts quickly led them to a residence in the 2200 block of W. College Street the following morning. With the assistance of the SPD's Special Response Team and a newly acquired armored vehicle, a search warrant was executed at the location. Evidence gathered during this operation resulted in the swift arrest of three suspects.
On March 25, 2025, a Caddo Parish Grand Jury returned true bills indicting Alissa Loreaunna Rogers, 19, Deaiviantan Deshun Davis, 21, and Rufus Odell Anderson, 21, in connection with the killings. Each of the three Shreveport residents was indicted on two counts of second-degree murder for the deaths of Tristavian and Jakeva Datcher. All three suspects are being held at the Caddo Correctional Center, with their bonds set at one million dollars for each charge, as they await trial.
