In the early afternoon of a Thursday in Shreveport, Louisiana, the life of 47-year-old Malchus Prillerman, a male, was tragically cut short in what would become the city's first homicide of 2025. On January 16th, at approximately 1:30 p.m., gunshots rang out in the 2700 block of Jones Mabry Road, near the intersection with Hawkins Street in the Martin Luther King Jr. neighborhood. Prillerman was inside a vehicle when he was struck by multiple bullets.
Emergency services were dispatched to the scene, but his injuries proved to be fatal. Malchus Prillerman was pronounced dead at 1:40 p.m., just minutes after the shooting occurred. The Caddo Parish Coroner's Office later confirmed his identity through fingerprint comparison and ordered an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
The Shreveport Police Department launched an investigation into the deadly shooting.
