Tamarion La’trell Gant, 15, a Black male, was shot late Friday morning on October 10, 2025, in a Northeast Bexar County neighborhood near the intersection of Woodlake Parkway and Lakeview Drive. Deputies found him gravely wounded; he was rushed to Brooke Army Medical Center, where he died of a gunshot wound identified by the Bexar County Medical Examiner.
His name was publicly released the following Tuesday, and funeral notices soon followed, painting a portrait of a teenager known to friends and family as “Marion.”
Investigators quickly focused on another teen. A 15-year-old boy was detained the same day after, according to authorities, he fled the scene, discarded his clothing and the firearm, and was later found at a nearby home on Silent Lake Drive, where the weapon was recovered. Sheriff Javier Salazar called the situation a tragedy and said detectives were proceeding carefully because juvenile suspects are involved. As of the most recent court hearing, the detained teen faces a tampering-with-evidence charge while investigators continue to probe his precise role in the killing; a judge ordered him to remain held in custody pending the ongoing investigation.
In the days after the shooting, deputies appealed for tips and surveillance footage from the neighborhood as they worked to piece together what led to the violence. Authorities have not publicly announced a motive. Local coverage underscored the shock among area teenagers and the community’s grief, even as law enforcement emphasized that the case was moving forward and would be cleared.
