In Memphis, Tennessee, a domestic dispute escalated into a tragic act of violence that claimed the life of 26-year-old Lashay Hodges on October 14, 2025. The incident, which unfolded in the Bethel Grove neighborhood, also left her younger sister, Charrienne Taylor, critically injured.
On that Tuesday morning, an argument between Hodges and her boyfriend turned violent. In an attempt to de-escalate the situation, Taylor stepped in between her sister and the man.
The confrontation, however, ended in gunfire. Both sisters were shot and rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. Hodges, who was shot in the head and chest, did not survive.
Following the shooting of the two women, the suspect, who was identified as Hodges' boyfriend, turned the gun on himself. He was also transported to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The family, grieving the loss of one daughter and praying for the recovery of another, has spoken out about the devastating impact of domestic violence. Hodges' mother recounted the heart-wrenching phone call she received from her younger daughter in the moments after the shooting.
