In the bright light of a Thursday afternoon in Birmingham, Alabama, the life of 26-year-old Romeo Danthony Underwood was brought to an abrupt and violent end. On October 16, 2025, Underwood was at the Jefferson Avenue Food Mart, located at the corner of Jefferson Avenue and 54th Street S.W., where he had encountered an acquaintance who was refueling their car. After asking for a ride, as he prepared to enter the small red sedan, another vehicle arrived at the scene.
