In the autumn of 2025, the life of Antwone Miguel Sanders, a 50-year-old man from Lexington, Kentucky, came to an unexpected and tragic end. Born on March 28, 1975, Sanders was a native of Lexington's east side, where he was raised in a loving family. His life's journey took him through Lexington Catholic High School and later to Lafayette High School. He eventually earned his high school diploma through the Job Corps.
Known for his love of music and his attempts at singing, Sanders had become a member of the West Bend Missionary Baptist Church in 2021.
On the morning of Monday, October 20, 2025, a fatal encounter unfolded in the 1200 block of Village Drive, near Valley Park in Lexington. An argument between Sanders and another man, 54-year-old Roderick Lee Clay, escalated into violence. The dispute culminated in both men shooting each other. When authorities arrived at the scene, both Sanders and Clay were pronounced dead.
Following an investigation by personal crimes detectives, the Lexington police determined that Sanders and Clay were the sole individuals involved in the shooting. They concluded that the two men had shot each other during the course of their argument. With this finding, the police announced that they were in the process of closing the investigation into the double homicide, as no other suspects were believed to have been involved in the tragic incident that claimed both men's lives.
