Alvion Ferrell Norris, 21, a Black/African American male, was shot on the afternoon of May 25, 2025, in Fort Worth’s Fairhaven neighborhood and later died at the hospital. Officers were dispatched around 3:18 p.m. to the 4200 block of Carmel Avenue, where they found Norris with at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to John Peter Smith Hospital and pronounced dead; the Tarrant County Medical Examiner later identified him and ruled the case a homicide.
Two other people were also wounded in the same attack.
Investigators said the three victims were sitting in a parked car on Carmel Avenue when a man approached, spoke briefly with them, then pulled a gun and opened fire into the vehicle before leaving. One of the surviving victims told police the shooter “walked away calmly.” The scene and sequence described by detectives matched multiple witness accounts gathered in the immediate aftermath.
Within days, police announced an arrest. On May 29, 2025, 18-year-old Ricardo Young was taken into custody and booked on a murder charge in connection with Norris’s death and the wounding of the two other occupants of the car. Authorities have not publicly detailed a motive, and the investigation remained with the homicide unit as of the initial reports.
