On May 7, 2015, 29-year-old Jonathan Luevano was shot and killed while sitting in his tanker truck outside a QuikTrip gas station in Fort Worth, Texas. Luevano, who worked as a fuel delivery driver for Groendyke Transport, had just completed a delivery and was filling out paperwork when he was fatally shot. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, and Luevano was discovered unresponsive in his truck later that night by a concerned passerby who contacted emergency services.
The investigation revealed that Lendon Lee Adams, a 23-year-old suspect, had been seen driving a white Ford Mustang around the gas station shortly before the shooting. Adams fired multiple shots at Luevano before fleeing the scene. Ballistics testing later confirmed that the gun found in Adams' car was the one used in the homicide. Adams was apprehended after being initially stopped by Benbrook police for unrelated reasons, which led detectives to his location. Despite denying his involvement, Adams was charged with the murder of Jonathan Luevano, and in 2017, he was sentenced to 70 years in prison, with eligibility for parole after 30 years.

Luevano was remembered as a hardworking individual, and his employer, Groendyke Transport, honored his memory by establishing a scholarship for employees' children in his name.
