Leonardo Pollard, 25, a male from Lubbock, was found shot inside a home in the 1900 block of East Colgate Avenue just after 12:30 p.m. on June 13, 2025. Officers and medics transported Leonardo Pollard, 25, to University Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators with the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit quickly identified a suspect, 22-year-old Jeremiah Lawrence, and obtained a murder warrant that evening.
According to an arrest-warrant affidavit described in subsequent reporting, witnesses said Leonardo Pollard, 25, had been sleeping on a living-room couch when a man known by the street name “Crazy” came to the door asking for a relative and then asked to borrow a phone. After Leonardo Pollard, 25, stepped outside to hand over his phone, the witness heard the door slam and four sharp pops. She said she found him on the floor as the man stood over him, going through his pockets; when she moved toward them, the assailant pointed a small pistol at her before she fled to the back of the house. Investigators later associated “Crazy” with Jeremiah Lawrence and showed the witness a driver's-license photo, which she identified.
Jeremiah Lawrence was arrested the next morning, June 14, by Lubbock County Sheriff's deputies and booked into the Lubbock County Detention Center on a murder charge. Weeks later, a Lubbock County grand jury indicted Jeremiah Lawrence in the shooting death of Leonardo Pollard, 25. Reports noted his bond was set at $350,000 as the case proceeded.
The victim's identity and age were confirmed the day of the shooting by police, and memorial notices later honored Leonardo Pollard, 25, by name and date, reflecting a life remembered by family and community in Lubbock.
