In the early hours of a Tuesday in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the life of a promising young man, Juan Carlos Romero, a 26-year-old Caucasian male, was tragically cut short. On February 7, 2017, Romero was walking near his home, close to the bustling University of New Mexico campus at the intersection of Stanford and Central Avenue, when he was fatally shot.
