On April 15, 2023, Nathan Barela, a 40-year-old resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, was fatally shot in an incident that drew significant attention from local law enforcement. The Albuquerque Police Department responded to reports of a possible shooting at approximately 3400 Comanche Road NE. Upon arrival, they discovered Barela with life-threatening injuries, and he was later pronounced dead at the scene.
