Kevion D. Williams, a 19-year-old Black/African American man, was fatally shot in Milwaukee during the early morning hours of August 20, 2025. Police said the shooting occurred at approximately midnight, but investigators were initially unable to determine exactly where the gunfire took place. After being wounded, Williams managed to seek help in the area of North 40th Street and West Clarke Street on Milwaukee’s north side.
Emergency responders transported him to a hospital, where doctors attempted to treat his gunshot injuries, but he ultimately died. The Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim as Kevion Williams. Online memorial information lists his full name as Kevion D. J. Williams and gives his date of birth as February 6, 2006.
The fact that Williams was found seeking assistance near 40th and Clarke did not necessarily mean that was where he had been shot. Milwaukee police specifically reported that the actual shooting location remained unknown, leaving detectives to determine what happened before Williams arrived in that area, where he had been, and who had been with him. Public reports did not describe an argument, robbery, confrontation, vehicle involved in the shooting, or any other sequence of events leading to the gunfire. Authorities also did not publicly identify a motive.
Investigators immediately began searching for the person responsible, but the suspect was described only as unknown. Police did not release a name, physical description, vehicle description, or other identifying information connected to a potential shooter. Officers also had not announced an arrest in the initial investigation. Milwaukee police asked anyone who knew where Williams had been before he was wounded, witnessed the shooting, or possessed other information about the circumstances surrounding his death to contact investigators. A review of later publicly available reporting located for the case did not reveal the announcement of an arrest, criminal charges, a named suspect, a trial, or a conviction connected to Williams' killing.
