On July 10, 2025, Audrey Elaine Hudgins Mowrar, 56, a woman from Mathews, Virginia, was shot to death inside a home along the 17000 block of John Clayton Memorial Highway.
Fire and rescue crews were called to the residence the following night and pulled two people from the burning structure; both were pronounced dead at the scene.
