Dion Melton, 32, a Black man from Norfolk, was found just after 1:15 a.m. on July 13, 2025, suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound in the 900 block of Bagnall Road in the Calvert Square neighborhood. Officers rushed him to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. Police marked off the street and began an overnight homicide investigation that Sunday, noting the scene was quiet when they arrived except for the cluster of responding units and neighbors peering from porches.
