The King County Medical Examiner's Office later confirmed that Jose Calderon's death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the torso.
According to accounts from the scene, the festive
gathering took a dark turn when uninvited individuals arrived at the party. An argument broke out after they were asked to leave, escalating into a physical confrontation. In the midst of the turmoil, gunshots were fired, and Jose Calderon was struck. Those at the party rushed him to a hospital in nearby Federal Way, but he succumbed to his injuries. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Jose Calderon, a construction worker, had moved to the United States from Mexico just two years prior with dreams of creating a better future for his wife and one-year-old son.
