In the early hours of June 15, 2022, the life of 32-year-old Carlos Garcia, a Hispanic male from Lynnwood, Washington, was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire on the East Hill of Kent. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 12:24 a.m. near the 12900 block of Southeast 275th Street, Kent Police officers discovered Garcia lying unresponsive on the ground with a significant wound to his chest.
Despite immediate life-saving efforts by the officers, which were continued
by arriving medics, Garcia succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The King County Medical Examiner's Office would later confirm that he died from multiple gunshot wounds. Investigators with the Kent Police Department quickly determined that the shooting was not a random act of violence, suggesting that Garcia may have been targeted.
In the days that followed, detectives dedicated their efforts to interviewing witnesses and collecting evidence to piece together the circumstances that led to the fatal shooting. The police department made a public appeal for information, encouraging anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact their tip line or call 911. However, as of June 17, 2022, no arrests had been made in connection with the homicide, and no suspects had been publicly identified.
