Cody Devontae Johnson, 27, a Black male, was shot to death on the night of June 3, 2025, outside the front door of his apartment in the Park at New Castle complex in Southeast Memphis. Police were called at 10:41 p.m. to the 6800 block of Birch Lake Drive, where they found him struck multiple times. Surveillance video recovered by investigators shows two figures in ski masks, dark hoodies, and dark pants approach the doorway and open fire before the pair fled on foot behind the complex.
