In March of 2024, a mother's world was shattered by a phone call that is every parent's worst nightmare. Her 16-year-old son, Jeremiah Arnold, a male, had been shot and gravely wounded in Midtown Memphis. The tragic events unfolded after midnight outside a short-term rental property on Roland Street where a party had taken place. Jeremiah was found in his vehicle with a gunshot wound to his head and was rushed to a nearby hospital, but tragically, he did not survive his injuries.

night of the incident, Jeremiah had been attending a party and was reportedly leaving to take some friends to another gathering. As he and his friends were walking to his car, an unknown assailant drove by and opened fire, striking Jeremiah and two other teenagers. While the other two victims, a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, survived their injuries, Jeremiah's wounds proved to be fatal. His mother, Jessica Kizer, had been tracking his location and grew worried when he remained in the same spot for too long and wasn't answering her calls. Soon after, she received the devastating news from one of his friends.

The Memphis Police Department believes the attack was targeted, yet months after the shooting, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified.
