In the summer of 2019, the city of Memphis was unsettled by a sudden act of violence that claimed the life of a local store owner. On the evening of June 27th, 30-year-old Ahmad Khmous was shot and killed at his place of business in the Berclair neighborhood. The incident was part of a troubling spate of gun violence that saw multiple fatalities and injuries across the city in a short period.
