In the late afternoon of August 16, 2020, Memphis firefighter Courtney Anderson was fatally shot during a robbery in the Whitehaven neighborhood. The 31-year-old man was in the 4000 block of Eastwind Drive around 4:50 p.m. when the incident occurred. Anderson, who had been with the Memphis Fire Department since 2015, was off-duty at the time of his death. His promising career and life were cut short in what investigators determined to be a robbery gone wrong.
