In the summer of 2025, the life of 18-year-old Joseph Simpson was tragically cut short by gun violence in Memphis, Tennessee. On the evening of July 19th, Simpson was shot in the South Memphis neighborhood of Soulsville. He was rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition but succumbed to his injuries the following morning. His death came just two days after he had celebrated a birthday, a painful irony that deepened the grief of his loved ones.
