In a tragic turn of events stemming from a domestic dispute, Cedric Blue Sr. lost his life in Memphis, Tennessee, on the evening of January 13, 2025. The man accused of ending his life was his own son, 24-year-old Cedric Blue Jr. The fatal encounter unfolded in the Uptown area of the city, where police responded to a shooting just after 9 p.m. and discovered Blue Sr. with multiple gunshot wounds.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident reportedly began with an argument between the father and son at an apartment. According to the Shelby County District Attorney's Office, the younger Blue left the apartment after the initial dispute, only to return armed with a gun. It was then that the deadly shots were fired. In a startling admission, Cedric Blue Jr. himself called 911 and confessed, 'I just shot my dad'.
Following the shooting, Blue Jr. allegedly attempted to flee from arresting officers and was also seen by witnesses trying to hide two firearms in some bushes in front of the building. He was subsequently taken into custody and charged with first-degree murder, evading arrest on foot, and tampering with evidence. A judge set his bond at $1 million.
The case against Cedric Blue Jr. proceeded through the legal system, with a preliminary hearing finding probable cause to support the charges against him. On February 11, 2025, the case was sent to a Shelby County Grand Jury for consideration.
