On the night of July 26, 2025, Tyquan Jackson, a 26-year-old male, was fatally shot on an I-40 entrance ramp in Hermitage, Tennessee. The incident began when Jackson was at The End Zone restaurant and bar on Old Hickory Boulevard and was alerted that individuals were breaking into his Hyundai Kona in the parking lot. As the auto burglars fled the scene, Jackson pursued them in his own vehicle.
During the chase, shots were fired from the suspects' vehicle toward Jackson's Hyundai on the entrance ramp to I-40 East. At least one of the rounds penetrated his windshield, striking him in the head. Security guards from a nearby apartment complex heard the gunshots and discovered Jackson in his vehicle. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in extremely critical condition, where he later died from his injuries.
The investigation into the homicide led to the arrest of four individuals. On August 1, 2025, Homicide Unit detectives charged Jonathan Brewington Jr., 20, and Hannah Crague, 34, with criminal homicide. Both admitted to being inside the suspect vehicle at the time of the shooting but claimed that the two backseat passengers were the ones who fired at Jackson. They were both held without bond.
Further investigation by the Nashville Metro Police Department's TITANS Unit identified the two backseat passengers as James Redmond, 20, and Keilon Williams, 24. On August 25, 2025, Williams was arrested without incident on Rosa L. Parks Boulevard. During his arrest, a firearm and marijuana were recovered. Williams subsequently admitted to detectives that he was one of the shooters. He was charged with criminal homicide and motor vehicle burglary, with his bond set at $110,000.
On the same day, detectives located James Redmond and attempted a traffic stop. Redmond fled, leading to a chase that extended into Robertson County. With the assistance of the Tennessee Highway Patrol, his vehicle was disabled on I-24 West. Redmond then fled on foot into a wooded median but was eventually tracked and apprehended by MNPD Canine Units. He was charged with criminal homicide, motor vehicle burglary, and two counts of evading arrest. His bond was set at $175,000.
