Jerry Castillo Saravia, 16, a Hispanic/Latino male, was fatally shot on the night of September 28, 2025, in the 800 block of Ryan Road in Dallas’ Central Oak Cliff neighborhood. Officers responded around 9:50 p.m. and found the teen with a gunshot wound; he died at the scene. According to police, the shooting unfolded while a group was handling a firearm, and initial accounts indicated it was an accidental discharge during gunplay.
His death and identity were later noted by the Gun Violence Memorial project.
Detectives quickly identified a 20-year-old, Anderson Acabal-Nolasco, as the person who fired the weapon. He was arrested the night of the shooting, booked into the Dallas County Jail, and charged with manslaughter. An arrest-warrant affidavit described the circumstances as the group “playing with” or “handling” guns when the shot was fired, and police named Detective Guy Curtis as the point of contact for the case. The investigation remains open even as the manslaughter charge moves forward.
