Derwin Darnell Joseph Matthews Jr., 31, a male and Black/African American, was shot just after 2:30 a.m. on June 2, 2025, in an alley off the 200 block of South Camac Street in Philadelphia’s Center City, hours after the city’s Pride March and Festival had concluded in the nearby Gayborhood. Police and medics found Derwin Darnell Joseph Matthews Jr., 31, with a gunshot wound to the abdomen; he was rushed to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and pronounced dead at 6:20 a.m. the same mornin ...
