In Duquesne, Pennsylvania, a community was shaken by the tragic death of 26-year-old Tywone Montel McClain, Jr., a male resident of the area. His life was cut short on June 14, 2025, following a shooting incident inside a local establishment. McClain was a devoted father of three, a hard worker involved in his family's catering business and construction, and a creative soul who enjoyed writing and making music.
The fatal encounter occurred just before midnight on June 13, 2025, at the Safari Club bar on Grant Avenue. According to police, an altercation broke out between McClain and at least two other individuals. The dispute escalated when one of the men, identified as 51-year-old Marvin Harpool, allegedly intervened in a confrontation between McClain and a woman. Security footage from the bar reportedly shows Harpool pushing McClain before shooting him in the head. The entire incident, from the start of the argument to the shooting, lasted less than a minute. McClain was rushed to UPMC Mercy hospital in critical condition, where he succumbed to his injuries in the early hours of June 14.
Following an investigation by the Allegheny County Police Department, Marvin Harpool was identified as the suspected shooter. Witnesses at the bar recognized Harpool, who was known by the nickname 'Tiny,' and picked him out of a police photo array. Authorities located Harpool's vehicle in Wilkinsburg on the Tuesday following the shooting and took him into custody without incident at a grocery store. Harpool has been charged with criminal homicide and persons not to possess a firearm. Court records indicate that Harpool was prohibited from legally carrying a firearm due to prior felony convictions.
