On January 6, 2018, the body of Otis Monroe, a 50-year-old African American man from Homerville, Georgia, was discovered by a hunter near Chauncy Road in Clinch County. The Clinch County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and subsequently requested assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI). Monroe's body was transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
