White / Caucasian Phillip Wagner, 35, was ambushed just after 1 p.m. on July 23, 2025, as he and another Lorain police officer sat in their cruisers at the end of River Bend Drive off Colorado Avenue, a quiet cul-de-sac where officers sometimes stopped to eat or do paperwork. From a concealed position, a 28-year-old Lorain man named Michael Parker opened fire with a high-powered rifle, striking Officer Wagner and Officer Peter Gale as they ate lunch.
